Why Should I drink at least two litres of water each day?
Because you are what you drink. Your body is approximately 70% water. And water is the key to all bodily functions - circulation, assimilation, digestion, elimination, and temperature control. Water is the most important nutrient we water-based beings consume, everyday of our lives.
Is our water safe to drink?
Although public water supplies are disinfected through chlorination, this does not ensure the water is free from other contaminants and pollutants. Open catchment areas, agricultural run-off of pesticides and fertilisers, pollutants from ageing pipelines, and chemical compounds called trihalomethanes (THMs) due to the reaction of chlorine with organic material in water, are all possible contaminants of our drinking water. Unpalatable taste, bad odour, and unclear water are often the result.
What are the three stages on the Filter Cartridge?
The top stage contains activated carbon to reduce chemical contaminants including chlorine, and ion exchange resin to reduce heavy metals such as lead. The second stage is pure activated carbon to further reduce chemical contaminants, while the final stage contains Silver/Copper impregnated Zeolite to provide and anti-bacterial action plus additional contaminant absorption.
Does the PiMag Water System remove fluoride?
No
What are the recommended replacement periods for the various components?

Every 6 months or 2,000 litres of water treatment which ever occurs first

Can the PiMag Water System treat bore, dam or tank water?
No. These water sources often contain high levels of particulates that would rapidly clog filters and reduce the flow rate of the PiMag Water System. Bacterial contamination would also be of concern. Microbiologically safe drinking water (treated public water supply) is the only water recommended for the PiMag Water System.
Can PiMag water be refrigerated?
Yes
Can I treat warm or hot water?
No. Never fill the upper tank with warm or hot water. Only fill with cold tap water that is microbiologically safe to drink (treated public water supply).
Where is the best location of my PiMag Water System?
Wherever is the most convenient for use. For cool, refreshing PiMag Water, do not place the PiMag Water System in direct sunlight.
How much water does the PiMag Water System hold?
The Upper tank holds 5 litres and the lower tank 15 litres. If the lower tank is full, water must not be added to the upper tank.

How long does it take to optimise the water?
Nine minutes under the control of an automatic timer.
Can optimized water be stored in the refrigerator?
Yes, for up to 48 hours. It is also satisfactory to use and store the Optimizer pitcher with the Pi Ring in place in the refrigerator for convenience.
What types of containers can be used to store optimised water for later use?
Refrigeration of optimised water helps preserve its freshness. Nearly any container can be used to store the water, however metal containers including stainless steal and aluminium are not recommended.
Does the Optimizer II also filter the water?
No. This unit is not a water purifier or filter. Use only with microbiologically safe drinking water (treated public water supply). Best when used with PiMag filtered water.
When should I replace the Pi Ring?
Once a year or after 200 hours of use, whichever comes first. Consult the Operating Manual on how to read the 'hours counter'.
Can I add flavours, sugar, vitamins of fruit to the Optimizer II?
Never add anything to water in the Optimizer pitcher as this will affect the Pi Ring. Transfer the optimised water to another container and then add flavourings according to your taste. Popular flavourings include honey, evaporated milk, lemon juice and green tea. Feel free to experiment.
Can I optimise hot water?
Do not use hot water above 80°C, or put the Optimizer pitcher in an oven.
What warranties apply to the PiMag Optimizer II?
The PiMag Optimizer II is covered by a 12 months warranty from date of purchase against faulty materials and workmanship under normal use. This warranty does not cover misuse, negligent handling or damage caused by attempted repair, or Optimizer II replacement ring.
Does the Shower Filter remove Chlorine?
The PiMag Ultra Shower System effectively reduces chlorine exposure by using the redox principle, an electron exchange that neutralizes free chlorine.
What does the Magnetic Technology do?
It helps condition water without salt or chemical additives.
Is the pH balance affected?
The PiMag Water is pH balanced to help offset the acidity often found in tap water.
Will the water feel different?
Yes the water actually feels cleaner, it helps produce softer-feeling hair and smoother skin.
Can I use the PiMag Ultra Shower System on hand held showers?
The Nikken PiMag Ultra Shower System is versatile in that the filter component can be unscrewed from the shower head allowing the product to be used on hand held shower units. Simply unscrew the filter from the shower head and screw the filter directly to the wall attachment of the hand held shower unit. If the hand held shower head is detachable, you can attach the Nikken shower head. All hand held shower units vary and some do not allow the shower head to be removed.
Where is the magnet located?
The magnet is located inside the filter unit, not visible from the outside.
How often should the filter be replaced?
For optimal results, the Filter Cartridge (item #13831) should be replaced every six months, or more often depending on condition of water.
What do I need to do if the shower head doesn't attach to my existing fittings?
It may be necessary to visit a bathroom renovation plumbing supplier for an appropriate gooseneck ('S' shaped arm) and/or other fittings to complete your installation.
